Hi, I’m Alicia
I am a bilingual (English/Spanish), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #142327 and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor #16828 in the state of California. I received my Bachelors Degree from UC Riverside and completed my Masters Degree at Cal Baptist University.
My purpose as a therapist is to provide a nonjudgmental and empathetic approach in order for you to feel safe and understood. I practice under the umbrella of person-centered therapy, because I believe that you are the expert of your life and experiences and they deserved to be honored. I also practice under other modalities, such as CBT, DBT, and ACT, since my approach is tailored to your needs and what fits best your personality. I practice from a culturally sensitive and trauma informed approach. I was recently trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and I am in the process of being certified.
“Acceptance is not a one-time event, but a continuous process of letting go and embracing the present moment.”
Experience & Expertise
I have five years of experience working as mental health therapist. I started my career as a therapist at a residential facility for adults in crisis. I provided counseling services and crisis interventions to diverse populations and met every client with warmth and reassurance that they were not alone anymore.
It was my work at residential facilities that inspired me to learn more about Borderline Personality Disorder, chronic Depression and other Mood disorders. My work has always been marked by empathy, understanding and meeting my clients where they are at. Now, as the founder of Wholehearted Therapy, I provide online therapy for adults, helping them learn how to regulate their emotions, better their relationships and overall build resilience in their lives.
When I’m not in session,
you can find me daydreaming about traveling the world while also enjoying a good movie. I enjoy spending time with my family and loved ones. I love to bake and my kitchen is almost always filled with bananas waiting for them to turn brown so they can become banana bread. I love the beach as much as much as I love how my lungs feel after a long hike. More important, outside of session, I’m just another human being figuring out their emotions as I live through this human experience and I’m constantly reminding myself to give myself grace.
